Kevin Durant donates $1 million to tornado victims

Oklahoma Thunder star Kevin Durant is donating $1 million to the Red Cross tornado and disaster relief fund to aid the victims of massive storms that devastated the greater Oklahoma City region Monday.

The All-Star forward has made large donations in the aftermath of tragedies and natural disasters in the past. In 2010, he donated $100,000 to the Athlete Relief Fund for Haiti, which paired Durant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and others to offer direct contributions to those directly impacted by earthquakes in Haiti.

Also, the NBA and its players’ association announced Tuesday that they will donate $1 million to support the relief efforts.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp pledged $1,000 per home run hit between Monday and the Major League Baseball All-Star break in July to the Oklahoma storm victims.

This would have posed security risks not only to Weezy but also to fans. Continue reading
