Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace has been suspended 7 games by the NBA for a vicious elbow that hit Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden in the head. Metta World Peace claims that the elbow was unintentional and that he never would have attempted to hurt any player.
“The concussion suffered by James Harden demonstrates the danger posed by violent acts of this kind, particularly when they are directed at the head area,” Stern said in a statement. “We remain committed to taking necessary measures to protect the safety of NBA players, including the imposition of appropriate penalties for players with a history of on-court altercations.”
Metta World Peace has a checkered past that includes multiple suspensions his most famous infraction was the brawl between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons in Auburn Hills,Michigan November 19,2004. Metta World Peace at the time was known as Ron Artest played for the Indiana Pacers when he went into the stands and began fighting with fans in the stands.
No one seems to know why Metta World Peace threw that wild elbow but we have a theory if you watch the video closely it appears that James Harden’s Rick Ross beard and Mr. T Mohawk attempted to bite World Peace on the elbow. So in reality it was self defense, hell it worked briefly for George Zimmerman why not World Peace?
