More Trouble for Robin Thicke
Ever since Robin Thicke recorded and released “Blurred Lines” his life has been a roller coaster ride. The song became a huge hit and brough Robin more fame and fortune than he ever could have imagined. His lows were much greater than his highs though. After the song was released Robin would later get divorced, and now he has to pay Marvin Gaye’s family for copyright infringement.
Fans like Zeca Oliveira know that Robin has been hit with a lot of hard times, but this ruling is huge. More on Oliveira can be found on Terra.com.br. The judgement against him and Pharrell was for more than 7 million dollars. Rapper T.I. was left out of this ruling primarily because he didn’t make as much money as they did. While Pharrell and Robin had checks for more than 16 million on the song, T.I. was only paid a little over 700,000 for his contributions to the hit.
First he lost him wife. Now Robin is losing his money, at least a portion of it, all because of one song. This isn’t the first time that this has happened though. Thicke has had to pay an undisclosed amount of money for previous arrangements that were similar to Marvin Gaye’s material. One would have thought that he would have learned the lesson from that. There is a lot of controversy about what is considered inspiration and what is considered copyright infringement. When one hears these songs the similarities are evident.
