ROCK THE BELLS

Rock the Bells will mark its 10th anniversary with some very special guests:  The traveling hip-hop festival will take a page from Coachella’s Tupac hologram last year and feature “virtual performances” from the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E.  According to Pitchfork, the former N.W.A. rapper will “perform” alongside Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, while Ol’ Dirty Bastard will be joined by his former group the Wu-Tang Clan, who have reconvened for a new album planned for a July release.

Other acts set for Rock the Bells include Common, Black Hippy (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock), Rakim, Talib Kweli, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Curren$y, Juicy J, Kid Cudi and Tyler, the Creator.

Rock the Bells kicks off September 7th and 8th in San Bernardino, California, and will make stops in Mountain View, California (September 14th and 15th); Washington D.C. (September 28th and 29th); and Rutherford, New Jersey (October 4th and 5th). More artists will be announced next month. For more information, visit Rock the Bells’ website.

TBS To Document Goodie Mob Reunion In New Reality Show

According to the Hollywood Reporter and FUSE, Cee-Lo Green of Goodie Mob and former star of The Voice, landed his very own six episode reality show “The Cee-Lo Life,” which is set to document Goodie Mob’s reunion.

cee-loReports indicate that the series will follow Cee-Lo and the rest of the Goodie Mob (Big Gipp, T-Mo and Khujo) as they work on their reunion album, “Age Against The Machine.”

Michael Wright, head of programming at TBS, said “This new TBS series will give viewers the chance to get to know Cee-Lo Green, who is without a doubt one of the hardest working men in show business. ‘The Cee-Lo Life’ is certain to be a smart, fun and funny journey packed with a lot of great music.”

Goodie Mob formed in 1991 and their debut album “Soul Food” was released in 1995. Three albums later, Cee Lo left the group in 2004 to pursue a solo career. Goodie Mob released “One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show” that same year (minus Cee Lo) and had poor reception from the fans with Cee Lo absent and led to Big Gipp leaving the group. The last album in 2005 “Livin Life as Lumberjacks” was released by T-Mo and Khujo under the name The Lumberjacks, which was the original name of the group before the addition of Cee Lo and Big Gipp. Then after years apart, a reunion album “We Sell Drugs Too” was planned for a 2011 release but never happened.

“Age Against The Machine” is the new title of the reunion album and is scheduled to be released on June 18th.

Dr. Joyce Brothers, Psychologist Who Advised Millions, Dies at 85

Joyce Brothers, a former academic psychologist who long before Drs. Ruth, Phil and Laura was counseling millions over the airwaves, died on Monday at her home in Fort Lee, N.J. She was 85.

Her daughter, Lisa Brothers Arbisser, confirmed the death.

Dr. Joyce Brothers, as she was always known professionally — a full-name hallmark of the more formal times in which she began her career — was widely described as the mother of mass-media psychology because of the firm, pragmatic and homiletic guidance she administered for decades via radio and television.

Historically, she was a bridge between advice columnists like Dear Abby and Ann Landers, who got their start in the mid-1950s, and the self-help advocates of the 1970s and afterward.

Throughout the 1960s, and long beyond, one could scarcely turn on the television or open a newspaper without encountering her. She was the host of her own nationally syndicated TV shows, starting in the late 1950s with “The Dr. Joyce Brothers Show” and over the years including “Ask Dr. Brothers,” “Consult Dr. Brothers” and “Living Easy With Dr. Joyce Brothers.”

She was also a ubiquitous guest on talk shows like “The Tonight Show” and on variety shows like “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour.” Continue reading

Fox Anchor Shocks By Asking “Is Malia Obama On Birth Control?”

In the wake of President Obama’s statement that he would support the selling of Plan B, a birth control product, to girls as young as 15, Fox News host Andrea Tantaros speculated about the sex life of the president’s 14-year-old daughter.
A Night Of Style & Glamour To Welcome Newlyweds Kim Kardashian And Kris Humphries - Arrivals

“Are they gonna put her on birth control? Because he’s very concerned with contraceptives and pharmaceuticals that are going in the mouths of everybody else’s 15-year-old daughter,” she said, according to Media Matters.

Tantaros also lashed out at the Obama administration: “They consider 15-year-olds to be women. They want to tell grown women what to do. They know how grown women feel. They have no idea how women feel. They should stop talking about it, because they have no clue.”

This is not the first time that the president’s eldest daughter has become a political punching bag for the right.

In just the first year of Obama’s presidency, Malia (then 11 years old) was subjected to crude and hateful insults after sporting a t-shirt with a peace sign on it during a trip to Europe.

According to Mediaite, commenters on the right wing site Free Republic referred to her as “a typical street whore” among other epithets.

In 2010, during the BP oil spill crisis, Glenn Beck mocked Malia for reportedly inquiring about the clean-up.

“Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?” said Beck, in a voice that was meant to mock Malia. Ask “Daddy” why he “hates black people so much.”

Feel free to tweet @AndreaTantaros and tell her how you feel about this. We are!

Bossip Reports

“[Toni Braxton] was my first Hollywood relationship. I was a baby, I did not know sh*t. I had just graduated from college, I had no money and I was on Young and the Restless. She called my agent when she was shooting a video in Miami, and it just went from there. I was like the little kid who found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It was a wild ride with Toni. She would never sing for me, though. That always bothered me.”

Toni Braxton recently responded to Shemar for putting her box on blast…

Toni was “very upset over Shemar’s remarks, said a family insider, adding: “Shemar madie it sound like Toni was chasing him just to have sex.

“She thought his comments were in poor taste, and when he compared her to Halle, that was just classless and disrespectful.

Toni is a class act! Come on Shemar keep your secrets in the bedroom. We heard you have a few more but you didn’t hear that from us.
