The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Murs (member of the group 3 Melancholy Gypsys) will launch a 6 month event on L.A.’s hip hop culture in the series ”Through the Mic.”
This Thursday night, 3 Melancholy Gypsys will stage its first performance in 5
years (which is already sold out by the way) with monthly concerts to follow.
Currently Medusa is scheduled to perform on June 21st. Each concert will be
presented in front of the vintage lamp posts on Wilshire Blvd., known as the
Urban Light installation.
The event is intended to validate L.A. hip hop as art and not just gangsta rap
or pop music. Ticket prices are $15 (for non-museum members) with a 1,000
person capacity and also gets you access to the Modern Art Exhibit. So if you’re
thinking of attending, you’d better grab your tickets now before they’re gone!
